ParAccel pricing

I made a round of queries about data warehouse software or appliance pricing, and am posting the results as I get them. Earlier installments featured Teradata and Netezza. Now ParAccel is up.

ParAccel’s software license fees are actually very simple — $50K per server or $100K per terabyte, whichever is less. (If you’re wondering how the per-TB fee can ever be the smaller one, please recall that ParAccel offers a memory-centric approach to sub-TB databases.)

Details about how much data fits on a node are hard to come by, as is clarity about maintenance costs. Even so, pricing turns out to be one of the rare subjects on which ParAccel is more forthcoming than most competitors.

Why not try a free option?

ScimoreDB Distributed scales in parallel over many machines, its free, and its just using standard SQL 🙂

First I’ve heard of Scimore. 800,000 deployments? Really? Counting how?

And by the way — that’s the emptiest About page I’ve seen in a long time. It tells nothing about the company or the people.

    Best,

    CAM

As you can guess from my email in the posting, I come from Scimore. Just to clear it out.
Just to put the comment into context. I believe you have the 800.000 number from the description of our embedded database.
The deployment number describes on how many machines our embedded database is running. The products are integrated into different applications, and last we talked with the ISV’s the sum of all their installations was around 800.000. I believe we have hit the 1.000.000 mark now, but I have not validated that number.

And regarding the about page. You are very correct. We should do something about it. Thanks for your feedback!

We are “just” a bunch of nerds who thinks databases and algorithms are the coolest thing in the world. We are still a small company and are directly accessible – when not working for customers 😉
